The short version
- Choose Powered Now if you issue certificates, work offline or need Xero and VAT filing in the same app as your invoices.
- Choose Youzse if you run a team and want customers booking and paying deposits online, with certificates kept in separate software already.
- The deciding number is £32 per user: five people on Powered Now Professional cost £160 a month before VAT, against £59 on Youzse Growth.
Powered Now is job management software built for UK trades, and it does a lot well. It quotes, invoices, schedules the team, produces gas and electrical certificates, works offline and links to Xero and QuickBooks. Youzse is younger, covers around 60 business types rather than trades alone and is built around customers booking and paying online. This page is written by Youzse. Every figure about Powered Now comes from powerednow.com as it read on 1 October 2026, and where Powered Now is the better buy we say so first.
Where Powered Now is genuinely strong
- Certificates. The Professional plan includes compliant certificates and custom forms covering gas, electrical, EICR, pest control, chimney and fire, including A4:2026 electrical certificates and EICRs. Its homepage says there are more than 80 trade forms and certificates, signed on the customer's phone.
- Accounting links. Professional and Premium include Xero and QuickBooks integration, so your bookkeeper is not retyping invoices.
- Tax filing. Professional submits VAT returns to HMRC, and Making Tax Digital for Income Tax is built in and recognised by HMRC on every plan, including the single user Business plan.
- Working offline on iPhone, iPad, Android, Mac and PC, which matters in a loft or a basement with no signal.
- Team tools on Professional, including time tracking and timesheets, live staff location, team chat and holiday and sickness tracking.
- Straightforward terms. Every plan is a rolling monthly or annual subscription with no minimum term and no cancellation fee, and the 14 day trial needs no card and does not bill automatically when it ends.
- Track record. It says more than 4,000 UK tradespeople use it.
What the software bill looks like as the team grows

| Contract | Rolling monthly or annual, no minimum term and no cancellation fee | No contract |

Powered Now figures taken from powerednow.com/pricing on 1 October 2026. Their pricing FAQ states that all prices shown exclude VAT and that VAT is added at checkout, so add 20% before comparing with the Youzse column. Team totals are worked out from their published per user prices. Youzse plans are priced per business in bands of users rather than per user: Essentials covers one user, Growth up to 10 and Scale has no limit.
Feature by feature, plainly
- Quotes. Both send professional quotes, and Powered Now chases unanswered ones automatically on its Premium plan. On Youzse the customer accepts an itemised quote online, which timestamps the acceptance, and an accepted quote converts to an invoice with the same lines, or to a booked job.
- Getting paid. Both handle deposits, part payments and payment links, and Powered Now chases overdue invoices automatically on its Premium plan. Powered Now uses a SumUp card reader on site. Youzse takes contactless on a phone with no reader to carry.
- Customers booking themselves. Youzse gives customers an online booking page where they pick a slot and pay a deposit, on every plan. Powered Now offers online booking through its customer portal, which comes with the Premium plan at £40 per user.
- Certificates. Powered Now produces them from the Professional plan. Youzse stores a finished certificate against the job and the customer but does not produce it.
- VAT. Powered Now Professional files VAT returns with HMRC. Youzse raises UK VAT invoices and works out your nine box VAT return figures from them, ready for you or your accountant to file. It does not submit returns to HMRC.
- Accounts. Powered Now links to Xero and QuickBooks on Professional and Premium. Youzse has no Xero or QuickBooks link.
- New work. Youzse lists your business on its marketplace at /discover, with 0% commission on new clients who find you there. It is younger and smaller than the big directories, so treat it as a bonus rather than a lead engine. Powered Now offers its own Here Is My Work website, free, with a Premium version at £100 a year.
- Breadth. Powered Now is built for trades, from plumbers and electricians to roofers and pest control. Youzse covers around 60 business types and adds CRM, marketing and forms, which suits a business doing more than one kind of work.
Where Youzse costs more
Card payments come first. Youzse charges 2.5% plus 35p per transaction on standard UK cards, with the platform fee inside that rate, which puts it at the higher end of UK card pricing. Premium and non UK cards cost more on Youzse. Powered Now takes card payments through SumUp and does not publish a rate on its pricing page. Ask for that rate in writing, then run a normal month of card takings through both.
Then there is anything you would have to bolt on. If you need EICRs, gas safety records or minor works certificates produced in the app, you will still need certification software alongside Youzse. If your bookkeeper works in Xero or QuickBooks, Youzse will not post to it. If you want VAT filed with HMRC from the app that raised the invoice, Powered Now does that and Youzse does not today. Each of those costs money or time.
Last, £19 a month is the entry price for one user. A team needs Growth at £59 a month, and some features sit on higher plans, so compare the plan you would actually run rather than the headline.
Where Youzse comes out ahead
Headcount. Powered Now Business covers one user. Once a second person needs their own login you move to Professional at £32 per user, and a team of five is £160 a month before VAT. Youzse charges by plan rather than per head. Growth is £59 a month for up to 10 users, so the fifth person costs the same as the second. A team of five on Premium, the plan with self booking and automatic chasing, is £200 a month before VAT, or £240 with it, against £59 on Youzse Growth.
Customers who book themselves. Powered Now offers this on Premium through its customer portal. Youzse builds it into every plan, and for a plumber with a boiler service round, an electrician doing landlord inspections or a heating engineer with annual visits, letting customers choose a slot and pay a deposit online takes away most of the phone tag. That is what Youzse is built around.
Trial length. Thirty days with no card, against fourteen, is long enough to quote, complete and get paid on real jobs before you decide.
The short version. If certificates, offline working or a Xero link are daily needs, Powered Now is the better fit and we would rather say so. If you run a team, want customers booking and paying deposits online and keep certificates in separate software already, run the Youzse trial for a month alongside what you use now.
