How to get more reviews

Almost every happy customer would leave a review. Almost none will think of it on their own. The entire problem is the asking.

Businesses with hundreds of reviews are rarely better than the ones with six. They just ask, every time, and they have made it take ten seconds. That is the whole trick.

Timing beats wording

Ask within a few hours of the appointment, while they still feel how it went. A request two weeks later arrives when the feeling has faded and gets ignored.

Ask after a good moment, not on a schedule. The appointment where someone said "I love it" is the one to follow up. If your system lets you trigger the request manually as well as automatically, use both.

Do not ask the same person repeatedly. One request, one reminder at most. Beyond that you are training people to ignore your messages, which costs you more than a review is worth.

Remove every step you can

A direct link straight to the review box. Not your homepage, not a search result, not "look us up on Google". Every extra click loses a large share of people.

On the phone they are already holding. A text massively outperforms an email for this, because the link opens straight into the app where they are already signed in.

Give them something to write about. "If you have a minute, it really helps if you mention what you had done" produces specific, useful reviews rather than five stars and nothing.

The rules you need to know

You may not write, commission or publish fake reviews. Under UK consumer protection law this is enforceable and treated seriously, and the same applies to paying anyone to produce them.

You may not offer a reward in exchange for a positive review. Offering an incentive for an honest review of any kind is a grey area at best and must be disclosed. The safe answer is to offer nothing and simply ask.

You may not ask only your happy customers while filtering out the unhappy ones. Selectively suppressing negative feedback is a practice the CMA has acted on.

Ask everyone, take what comes and reply to all of it. It is also the approach that produces the most believable profile, because a page of nothing but five stars reads as fake to customers as well as regulators.

A review system that runs itself

  • Automatic request within hours of the appointment
  • By text, not email, wherever you have consent
  • A direct link to the review box, not your homepage
  • One reminder at most
  • A prompt about what to mention
  • Ask everyone, not just the ones you expect to be positive
  • Reply to every review, good and bad
  • Never offer a reward in exchange

Clear answers before you switch

The details that usually slow down a move: setup, pricing, bookings, records and how Youzse fits into your day.

Within a few hours of the appointment, while the customer still remembers how it felt. Requests sent days later arrive after the feeling has faded and are largely ignored. Automating the send within the same day is the single highest-return change most businesses can make.
