Written by Youzse, so it is not neutral. Every Barbr figure below came from getbarbr.com, its terms of service and its Google Play listing on the date at the bottom of this page. Where Barbr is the better answer, this page says so.
Why people search this comparison
Most people do not search for a Barbr alternative when everything is calm. They search because they are checking pricing, commission, cancellation, reviews, complaints, support, data export or whether the platform still fits the way they work.
That is the right moment to compare Youzse honestly: not as the cheapest card processor, but as a newer UK platform with published pricing, 0% commission on new clients, direct client ownership, imports and a wider operating tool set.
What Barbr genuinely does well
Barbr is barber only and makes no apology for it. One plan, PRO, at £20 a month with a 14 day free trial and no card required. A shop pays 50% for every extra barber after the first, so three chairs is about £40 a month rather than three subscriptions. That is a genuinely low bill and among the cheapest published prices on this page.
The feature list is the right list for a barber rather than a salon list with the word barber pasted over it: bookings from a personal link, SMS reminders, no-show protection, recurring bookings, a waiting list, payments online and in store, reviews with a Google review booster, discount codes, a referral programme, SMS blasts, analytics and out of hours pricing. Its own FAQ says it is UK based, that it is cheaper than most competitors and that it never promotes your competition.
It is also a real, rated product rather than a landing page. The barber app carries 4.7 stars from 49 reviews with 5,000 plus downloads on Google Play, and Barbr Ltd is a UK registered company. If you are a single barber or a small shop who wants a cheap focused app and nothing else, Barbr will very likely do the job for less than Youzse.
What to check before you commit
- The card rate is not published anywhere on the site. For a barber that is the number that decides the bill, because a percentage plus fixed pence hurts most on a £15 cut. Ask for it in writing before you compare £20 against £19.
- Barbr is barbers only. There is no beauty, no retail, no mobile trade and no second line of work to grow into, so a shop that adds a beautician, a tattooist or a coffee counter is looking at a second system.
- We found no published quotes, invoices, VAT handling, memberships, prepaid cut packages or gift cards. If you sell blocks of cuts up front or invoice a barbering contract, check those exist before you move.
- Getting started means downloading the app and building a profile. There is no published web back office, so consider how that works for a manager doing the week on a laptop.
- Nothing is published about importing your existing clients or exporting them again later. Ask what comes with you if you leave, including notes, history and reviews.
- The Barbr terms describe the website and apps as a centralised booking point that aggregates listed barbers, and the app promises to get you discovered by new clients. Ask directly whether that discovery ever carries a fee, because no commission schedule is published either way.
- The homepage income calculator is based on a £30 average booking and a 5% no-show rate, drawn from data on 1,000 plus barbers. Run it against your own average ticket before believing the number it lands on.

The number that usually decides it
It is not the subscription. £20 against £19 is a rounding error next to what a busy chair pays in card fees, and neither price will make or break a shop.
Take a two chair shop doing 300 cuts a month at £15, so £4,500 on card. On Youzse that is 2.5% plus 35p, roughly £217 a month, with the platform fee already inside it and nothing charged when a new client walks in. On Barbr we cannot tell you the equivalent, because the rate is not published. Half a point either way on those numbers is about £23 a month, which is more than the difference between the two subscriptions.
So the honest instruction is simple: get the Barbr card rate in writing, multiply it out against your own transaction count, then compare. If it comes back lower than 2.5% plus 35p and you only ever want to cut hair, Barbr is the cheaper shop.
Which one fits
Choose Barbr if you are a single barber or a small shop, you want the cheapest focused barber app you can find, you are happy running the business from your phone and you have no plans to sell anything other than cuts. Its refund promise and 14 day trial make it a low risk thing to try.
Choose Youzse if the shop is growing into more than a diary: prepaid blocks of cuts sold up front, deposits on the long appointments, memberships, gift cards, quotes and invoices for contract work, VAT, a web back office for whoever does the books and the option to add beauty or another trade without buying a second system.
The point that is not about features: Barbr publishes its subscription and not its card rate, and Youzse publishes both. Whichever way you go, do not sign anything until every number is on the table.
Where Youzse costs more
Youzse charges 2.5% plus 35p on card payments. That is higher than the headline card rates on Fresha, Booksy and Vagaro, and it is higher on purpose: the Youzse platform fee lives inside that rate rather than being charged separately. There is one number to understand instead of three.
If you take a lot of card payments and win very few clients through a marketplace, a platform with a lower card rate and no marketplace listing will cost you less. That is a real scenario and we would rather you worked it out on a calculator than found out in month three.
Youzse works out cheaper when new clients matter to you. A 20% one-time fee on a new client, or 30% on a boosted one, is a much larger number than a few tenths of a percent on card takings, and it repeats every time you win someone new.
How we worked this out
Every figure quoted for another platform was taken from that company's own UK pricing page on the date shown at the bottom of this page. Where a platform does not publish a number, we have left it out rather than estimating it.
Watch the VAT treatment when you compare. Booksy publishes its subscription and card fees plus VAT. Fresha and Vagaro publish theirs without that note. Check what each provider will actually invoice you before you decide.
These platforms change their plans. If you spot something out of date here, tell us and we will correct it.
Third-party pricing and features on this page were last checked on 5 August 2026. Rival platforms change their plans, so check their own site before you decide.
