SQUIRE or Youzse for growing barbershops

SQUIRE is worth shortlisting for the right business. Youzse is the newer UK alternative when you want booking, payments, client ownership and operating tools in one place.

Written by Youzse, so it is not neutral. It is designed to be useful: where SQUIRE is stronger, we say so. Where pricing was not publicly verifiable, we leave it out rather than guessing.

Why people search this comparison

Most people do not search for a SQUIRE alternative when everything is calm. They search because they are checking pricing, commission, cancellation, reviews, complaints, support, data export or whether the platform still fits the way they work.

That is the right moment to compare Youzse honestly: not as the cheapest card processor, but as a newer UK platform with published pricing, 0% commission on new clients, direct client ownership, imports and a wider operating tool set.

The direct answer

For most UK service businesses comparing booking software, Youzse is best when you care about owning the client relationship, avoiding new client commission, importing your existing data and running more than a basic diary.

A rival can still be the better choice if it has the marketplace reach, specialist depth or payment ecosystem you need more than Youzse's broader operating toolkit.

What SQUIRE genuinely does well

SQUIRE appears in the shortlist because real UK businesses search for it when they are comparing booking systems.

The public price signal we could verify is No official public price verified. That is useful, but it is still only one part of the bill. Check payment fees, SMS, add ons, setup, contract length and data export before you compare it with Youzse.

The fair reading is simple: SQUIRE can be right when you want a specialist barber platform and are happy with demo led pricing.

What to check before you move

  • The headline price rarely tells you what happens once payments, reminders, deposits, forms, imports and marketing are added.
  • Marketplace fees, payment fees and add ons need checking before you sign.
  • A narrower tool can feel cheaper until you need imports, marketing, payments, deposits, packages, gift cards or reporting in another system.
  • Ask what you can export if you leave, including clients, notes, forms, reviews, invoices and appointment history.

Third party details were checked against public pages on the date shown below. Where a number was not published clearly, we have not estimated it.

Which one fits

Public complaint threads and review sites should not decide the purchase on their own, but they are good at showing what to test before you move.

Specialist barber software can fit brilliantly, but demo led pricing makes comparison harder. Ask for subscription, payment rate, hardware, marketplace or discovery fees, support and exit terms in writing.

If you also do beauty, retail, training, mobile work or invoices, check whether the barber first workflow stretches that far.

Choose SQUIRE if you want a specialist barber platform and are happy with demo led pricing.

Choose Youzse if you want a UK service platform with published pricing, barber workflows, payments, packages, loyalty, quotes, invoices and room to branch out.

Where Youzse costs more

Youzse charges 2.5% plus 35p on card payments. That is higher than the headline card rates on Fresha, Booksy and Vagaro, and it is higher on purpose: the Youzse platform fee lives inside that rate rather than being charged separately. There is one number to understand instead of three.

If you take a lot of card payments and win very few clients through a marketplace, a platform with a lower card rate and no marketplace listing will cost you less. That is a real scenario and we would rather you worked it out on a calculator than found out in month three.

Youzse works out cheaper when new clients matter to you. A 20% one-time fee on a new client, or 30% on a boosted one, is a much larger number than a few tenths of a percent on card takings, and it repeats every time you win someone new.

How we worked this out

Every figure quoted for another platform was taken from that company's own UK pricing page on the date shown at the bottom of this page. Where a platform does not publish a number, we have left it out rather than estimating it.

Watch the VAT treatment when you compare. Booksy publishes its subscription and card fees plus VAT. Fresha and Vagaro publish theirs without that note. Check what each provider will actually invoice you before you decide.

These platforms change their plans. If you spot something out of date here, tell us and we will correct it.

Third-party pricing and features on this page were last checked on 3 August 2026. Rival platforms change their plans, so check their own site before you decide.
