The Setora alternative for shops that outgrow the calendar

Setora charges one flat fee per location with unlimited staff and no plan ladder, which is a clean model and a fair one. This page works out where that beats a tiered subscription and where it does not, including the shapes of business where Setora simply costs less.

Two numbers frame this comparison and they are not like for like, so start with what each one buys. Setora is £39 a month per location and that is the entire product, with unlimited staff, no seat fees and no plan ladder above it. Youzse is tiered: Essentials at £19 a month carries one user, Growth at £59 carries up to ten and Scale at £109 lifts the cap, each for one location with extra locations from £15 a month. Quoting our £19 against their £39 as though they were the same purchase would be misleading, and this page used to do it. Setora is an independent UK product from Setora Technology Ltd, Companies House number 17025958, established in 2026 and aimed at independent barbershops and salons. It does one job and it is upfront about the edges of that job, which is rarer than it should be.

Per location or per business, and where the difference lands

Setora's model has a real virtue. A single site with ten barbers pays the same £39 a month as a single site with two, because seats are not charged. Anyone who has watched a per seat product punish them for hiring will recognise how much that is worth. Their site notes that prices shown exclude VAT where applicable, so budget £46.80 rather than £39 once VAT lands.

Ours moves with the team, and on a single site that is the expensive direction. A shop with six people cannot use Essentials at £19 at all, because it carries one user. That shop is on Growth at £59. A shop that needs the cap lifted entirely is on Scale at £109. Set either against £46.80 including VAT and Setora is the cheaper subscription, by a margin that widens the more people you employ. There is no reading of the numbers that makes us cheaper for a single site with a real team, and it would be easier to leave that out than to write it down.

The model turns at the second site. Multi location is charged per site, so two shops is £78 a month before VAT and three is £117. Youzse adds locations from £15 a month without a plan upgrade, so the gap narrows as sites multiply and can close depending on which tier your team size puts you on.

So the honest rule is this. One site, however big the team, is where Setora is priced better than us and usually by a lot. Several sites, or one site that needs quotes, invoices, memberships or VAT returns alongside the bookings, is where a tiered subscription starts to earn its difference. Work it out on your own team size rather than on either headline.

Setora figures taken from setora.co.uk on 10 August 2026, where the site states that prices shown exclude VAT where applicable. That statement covers the subscription. Setora states no VAT treatment for card processing and publishes no card rate of its own, so none is quoted here. Because nothing of theirs sits on top of Stripe, their card cost is lower than the Youzse card cost.

Card processing, where Setora is more transparent than us

Setora does not mark up card processing. Their pricing page states that Stripe processing is charged at Stripe's rate with no Setora markup when you use Setora payment tools, and their booking protection page goes further, saying they add no platform fee and no markup on top of Stripe, that you pay Stripe's standard processing fee at cost and that you pay it only when a card is actually charged. They publish no rate figure of their own, so the number to hold them to is whatever Stripe charges you. That is more transparent than what Youzse does and it deserves saying out loud rather than skipping past.

Youzse charges 2.5% plus 35p with our platform fee built into that one number. Our reasoning is that a single rate is easier to forecast than a processor rate plus a platform charge you reconcile later, and it is the rate that funds 0% commission on new clients who arrive through Youzse. That reasoning does not change the arithmetic. Look up Stripe's current published rate for the card types you actually take, set it against our 2.5% plus 35p and multiply the gap by your monthly transaction count before you decide anything. Setora will come out cheaper on cards, because we add to the processor rate and they do not.

One thing to add to the Setora side of the ledger when you compare. Their text messaging is billed separately, either pay as you go or on an optional subscription, so a busy shop sending reminders should add that to the £39 before calling it a flat fee.

Where Setora is genuinely strong

  • Flat pricing per location with unlimited staff, no seat fees and no plan ladder, which is cheaper than Youzse on a single site with a team
  • Card processing passed through at Stripe's published rate with no markup of their own
  • Hosted Shop Websites, separate from the booking pages, with location and staff pages and support for a custom domain
  • A management app on iOS and Android for owners and staff to work the diary, add appointments and edit customer details from a phone
  • Migration and import tooling, with a column mapping preview, for moving customers, services and bookings off another system
  • Reporting on revenue, appointments, staff performance and customer retention, with CSV export
  • Role based access that their site describes as more than thirty granular permissions
  • Customer data export, with their site stating that shop owners own their data
  • A 14 day trial with no card required
  • An independent UK product focused on barbershops and salons rather than everything at once

The list Setora publishes of what it does not do

  • No client facing mobile app. Their iOS and Android app is for owners and staff, and their own wording is that it is not a client facing app. Clients book on the web booking page
  • No payment terminal integration
  • No WhatsApp messaging
  • No self check in
  • No booking links for individual staff
  • No Xero or QuickBooks connection
  • No marketplace or directory to bring you new clients

Side by side on the points that usually decide it

  • Setora: £39 a month per site, exclusive of VAT, with unlimited staff, so one large single site team is very well served. Against that, Youzse: From £19 a month for the business, with extra locations from £15 a month for multi site owners.
  • Setora: Card processing at Stripe's rate with no markup of their own, which is cheaper than Youzse per transaction. Against that, Youzse: Card processing at 2.5% plus 35p with the platform fee inside it, which is the higher rate and the trade for 0% commission on new clients.
  • Setora: Bookings, deposits and payments, calendar and walk-in kiosk, customer records, waitlist, staff and retention reporting, granular permissions, imports, a staff app and hosted shop websites, built tightly around barbershops and salons. Against that, Youzse: the same ground plus quotes, invoices, memberships, gift cards, loyalty, marketing, forms and UK VAT returns, across more than 60 trades.
  • Setora: No marketplace or directory, so every client has to be one you already found. Against that, Youzse: Listed in the Youzse marketplace with 0% commission on the new clients it brings you.
  • Setora: No WhatsApp and text messaging billed on top of the subscription. Against that, Youzse: SMS, WhatsApp and email reminders driven from one set of templates.
  • Setora: 14 day trial with no card required. Against that, Youzse: 30 day trial with no card required.

Clear answers before you switch

The details that usually slow down a move: setup, pricing, bookings, records and how Youzse fits into your day.

On a single site, usually not. Setora is £39 plus VAT, so £46.80, for the whole platform with unlimited staff. Youzse is tiered by users: Essentials at £19 carries one person, Growth at £59 carries up to ten and Scale at £109 lifts the cap. A solo operator pays less with us. A shop with a team does not, and a large single site team pays a lot less with Setora. Add your messaging to the Setora side, because their SMS is billed separately, and it narrows the gap without closing it. Where Youzse earns the difference is several sites at £15 a month each, and the quotes, invoices, memberships and VAT returns that sit alongside the bookings.
