Booking software for a chair renter

The salon can take the booking. The person who did the work can be the one who gets paid. The software records the rent. It does not decide who is self-employed.

A chair renter and a salon share a room and not much else. The awkward part is the software: one diary, two people's money, and a rent figure that has to be written down. This page is about what the booking system can record. Whether someone is legally self-employed is a question for an accountant. The employment guide covers that difference.

Who gets paid

Each person has an employment type. Employed means card takings settle to the business. Self-employed means the person is paid directly and keeps their earnings. Chair rental means they pay rent and keep their earnings.

For a self-employed person or a chair renter, payouts can go to an account they connect themselves. The customer still books the business. The payment can settle to the person who did the work.

Youzse charges 0% commission on new clients. A card payment is 2.5% plus 35p, whoever the payout is sent to. The subscription is priced for the business, from £19 a month for one person.

Where the rent is recorded

Open Team, then Chair Rentals. An agreement can be a fixed rent each week or each month, a percentage of takings, both, or neither. You can pause it, resume it, or end it. The history stays.

Recording that agreement does not decide that the person is self-employed. A percentage and a software login do not settle employment status. An accountant does.

What not to use the system for

If the salon sets the renter's prices, their hours and which clients they may see, that looks like control. The employment guide says that kind of control can undermine a claim to be self-employed. Do not make "use our system, at our prices, in our hours" a condition if their status matters.

Use the diary so customers can book and so the rent has a record. Clients booked with the salon are the salon's booking. Whose client list it is belongs in an agreement a solicitor or an accountant has seen. The software will not infer it from a chair rental setting.

Set up before the first payout

  • Employment type set to chair rental or self-employed for the person who should be paid directly
  • Their own payout account connected
  • A rent agreement: a fixed amount, a percentage of takings, both, or neither, with a start date
  • Prices and hours agreed outside the software if status is in question
  • An accountant has looked at the arrangement, not only the settings screen

Clear answers before you switch

The details that usually slow down a move: setup, pricing, bookings, records and how Youzse fits into your day.

No. The setting decides where card takings are sent and that a rent agreement can be recorded. Employment status is a legal question. Ask an accountant.
