A block of six, not six separate decisions
A single massage is a treat and easy to skip. A block of six is a commitment, and it is how a treatment room stays full. Sell the block, draw it down per session and take deposits on the long appointments.
Block balances tracked for you.
One card rate of 2.5% plus 35p, with the platform fee inside it.
Set up in 2 minutes. No credit card required.

Book the next one from the table
The best moment to book the next massage is while the client is still relaxed and can feel the difference. Rebook there and then, and for the ones who do not, remind at the interval their body actually needs.
Unlimited client records.
Unlimited customer records on every plan, yours to export at any time.
Set up in 2 minutes. No credit card required.

Running a massage therapists business
A massage therapist has a hard physical ceiling that most trades do not. There are only so many deep tissue hours in a pair of hands in a week, so the question is never how to do more of them. It is what each one is worth.
Why a diary of single massages earns less than it should
- A one off treatment is the easiest thing in the world to skip in an expensive month
- The client decides again every single time, and decides it while she is no longer in pain
- One session rarely resolves a shoulder that took two years to build, so the outcome disappoints and the therapist gets the blame
- A book of singles gives you no forward view, so a quiet February arrives with no warning at all
- A block bought up front is one decision, made once, while the reason for making it is still obvious
- The card fee is paid on one transaction rather than on six
Rebook from the table, not from the doorway
The best moment to book the next session is while she is still lying down and can feel the difference. Ten minutes later she is at the desk with her coat on, thinking about the school run, and the answer becomes that she will ring you.
She will not ring you. Nobody in this trade has ever been rung by the client who said she would ring, and the appointment quietly turns into an annual treat instead of a monthly habit.
A notice period only works if it applies to everybody
Ninety minutes of deep tissue that does not arrive is ninety minutes that cannot be resold, and the room was heated, the oils were out and the towels were washed for it.
Take a deposit weighted to the length of the appointment and apply the same notice period to every client without exception. Waiving it for the clients you like is precisely what makes it unenforceable against the ones you do not.
Make cancelling easy while making late cancelling costly. A client who can move the appointment herself at eleven at night gives you two days of notice. A client who has to telephone during working hours gives you none.
What a massage therapist can actually be paid for
| Work | How it bills | What limits it |
|---|---|---|
| Treatments in your own room | On the day, or drawn down from a block | Your hands and the hours in a week |
| Mobile visits at the client's home | A higher rate that has to cover the travel | Two unbilled hours of driving between three clients |
| Chair massage on a company site | A day rate invoiced on terms | Finding the account, rather than doing the work |
| Cover for a gym or a sports club | A retainer or a session fee on terms | Being paid on time by somebody else's treasurer |
The mix decides the income more than the hourly rate does. A week of mobile visits at a premium can clear less than a week in one room once the driving is counted honestly.
What a well run massage practice does
- Sells blocks of sessions up front and draws them down automatically
- Rebooks from the table at the end of the session
- Weights the deposit to the length of the appointment
- Applies the notice period identically to every client
- Runs a waitlist so a late cancellation refills itself
- Sends the health intake with the booking confirmation rather than on a clipboard
- Records pressure, the areas worked and the areas to avoid
- Prices mobile work with the travel time actually counted
