Fresha or Vagaro: two 20% marketplace fees, priced differently

Fresha and Vagaro both take 20% once on a marketplace new client. The real difference is what happens to the rest of the bill as your team or calendar count grows.

Fresha and Vagaro figures read from their own UK pricing and support pages. Youzse figures from youzse.app/pricing.

The 20% they share, and the bill they do not

Both platforms take the same cut of a new client's first booking, so commission is not what separates them. What separates them is how the subscription scales. Fresha's Team plan charges per bookable team member. Vagaro charges per bookable calendar, and the two are not the same thing once a business runs more staff than chairs or has staff sharing a calendar.

Vagaro's genuine advantage is breadth. If the business is not only hair and beauty, and runs classes, memberships, retail or fitness alongside appointments, Vagaro's depth in those areas is real and Fresha does not attempt to match it.

Where Youzse fits

Youzse removes the 20% new client fee that both platforms share, in exchange for a flat per business subscription instead of one that scales with team members or calendars, and a higher card rate. It covers salon and barber workflow plus quotes and invoicing for trades, but does not match Vagaro's depth in classes, fitness and retail.

The comparison worth running is not Fresha against Vagaro on its own. It is what either one costs you in new client fees over a year, set against what Youzse would cost instead at 0% commission and a flat subscription.

Where Youzse costs more

Card processing, again. Fresha and Vagaro both publish lower per transaction rates than Youzse's 2.5% plus 35p. If your book is already full and new clients rarely come from either marketplace, that lower card rate is worth more to you than removing a commission you are barely paying.

How we worked this out

Every figure quoted for another platform was taken from that company's own UK pricing page on the date shown at the bottom of this page. Where a platform does not publish a number, we have left it out rather than estimating it.

Watch the VAT treatment when you compare. Booksy publishes its subscription and card fees plus VAT. Fresha and Vagaro publish theirs without that note. Check what each provider will actually invoice you before you decide.

These platforms change their plans. If you spot something out of date here, tell us and we will correct it.

Third-party pricing and features on this page were last checked on 3 August 2026. Rival platforms change their plans, so check their own site before you decide.

Clear answers before you switch

The details that usually slow down a move: setup, pricing, bookings, records and how Youzse fits into your day.

Both charge 20% once on a marketplace new client, so commission is roughly a wash. Fresha starts cheaper per team member at £9.95 a month, while Vagaro starts at £20 a month per bookable calendar and rises from there, so which is cheaper depends on your exact team and calendar structure.
