Sending a marketing campaign

Campaigns send email, SMS or WhatsApp to opted-in customers, with consent and suppression checks applied before anything goes out.

Open Campaigns under Marketing in the sidebar. A campaign is one message sent to a group of customers by email, SMS or WhatsApp, and only people who have opted in receive it.

Building one

  1. 1Choose your channel
  2. 2Choose who it goes to, either a segment you have built or a filter you set there and then
  3. 3Write the message, or pick a template
  4. 4Preview it and send yourself a test
  5. 5Send it

Consent is checked for you

Every send is filtered against marketing consent and the suppression list before anything leaves. Somebody who opted out cannot be reached by accident, which is the protection you want when a mis-selected filter would otherwise be a regulatory problem rather than an embarrassment.

Always send yourself a test

A test email costs nothing and catches the mistakes that matter, like a broken link, a name that did not merge or a price you changed your mind about.

What to send

Something the reader gains from. A quiet-week offer, a seasonal reminder, news of a service you have added. A message that exists only because it has been a while since the last one reads exactly like that.

Common questions

Why did fewer people receive it than my segment showed?

Consent and suppression are applied at send time. The difference is people who have opted out or been suppressed since the segment was built.

Can I schedule a campaign for later?

Build it in advance and send when you are ready. Test first, because a scheduled mistake is harder to catch.

Does sending SMS cost extra?

Text and WhatsApp messages have a per-message cost. Email is included. Check Settings, then Messaging, for how yours is set up.
