Vehicle health checks

A vehicle health check records a vehicle condition against a template, and a job can be set to require one before it closes.

A vehicle health check is a structured record of a vehicle's condition, completed against a template as the mechanic works through it.

Why they earn their keep

A health check turns an opinion into a record. Instead of telling a customer their tyres are getting low, you show them what was measured and when. It sells the work you genuinely should be doing and protects you when somebody says nobody mentioned it.

Completing one

Open the job and work through the check. Each item is recorded as you go, so the check is built while the vehicle is on the ramp rather than remembered afterwards.

Making it compulsory

A job can require its health check before it can be finished. Attempting to close the job sends you to the check instead. That is the setting that turns health checks from a good intention into something that happens on every vehicle.

Talking to the customer

Report what was found, what needs doing now and what can wait. A check that turns every finding into urgent work stops being believed after the second visit.

Common questions

Why will my job not close?

It requires a health check that has not been completed. Finish the check and the job can be closed.

Can I create my own check sheets?

Yes, health check templates are yours to build.

Does the customer get a copy?

The check is recorded against the job and the vehicle, which is what you work from when you talk to them.
