SMS and WhatsApp messages are paid for from a prepaid credit balance on your account. You top up in advance, and the cost of each message is taken from your balance as it sends. Email and app notifications never cost anything and never touch your credit.
If you cannot see Prepaid credit in your account yet, it is still being rolled out. Everything below applies once it is switched on for you.
How it works
- You add credit to your balance using the card saved on your account
- Each SMS or WhatsApp message is priced per send, and that amount comes off your balance at the moment it goes out
- Every top-up and every send is recorded in your activity, so you can see exactly where each penny went
- If your balance cannot cover a message, that message does not send. The customer still gets the email version, so nothing important is lost
Topping up
- 1Go to Settings then Messaging.
- 2Under Top up, enter an amount and select Top up now.
- 3The amount is added to your balance straight away and charged to your saved card.
The amount you enter is the credit that lands on your balance. If VAT applies, it is shown and added on top of your card charge, and a VAT receipt is available, so the full amount you top up is always available to spend on messages.
Auto top-up
Rather than watching your balance, you can let Youzse top it up for you. Turn on Auto top-up, choose the balance it should trigger at and the amount to add each time. When a send takes your balance below your trigger, your card is charged and the credit added automatically. You will also get an alert whenever your balance runs low, so you are never caught out.
Keeping control of spend
- Your balance, spend this period and a projection to month end are shown at the top of the Messaging page
- The activity page lists every credit and debit, with filters for type, channel and date
- You can also set a monthly budget cap, which blocks sends that would take your spend over the limit you choose
You are always in charge
nothing sends unless you have paid for it up front, and nothing is charged to your card unless you top up or have auto top-up turned on.
