Go to Team, then Policies, then Limits. These three numbers stop a request that is too long, too soon or too far away.
Longest single request is the most days in a row one request can cover. A fortnight is a common ceiling. Someone who wants longer can ask in more than one request. You can still say no.

Minimum notice is how far in advance staff must ask. The strip at the top of the page shows this as Days notice. A same-week request is what empties a Saturday, so set this to whatever notice you can actually give customers.
Furthest ahead is how far into the future leave can be booked. It stops next Christmas being taken in January, before you know who else wants it.
The page describes these as notice periods and length limits on each leave request. Save after you change them. Requests already approved stay approved.
Common questions
Can I still book leave that breaks a limit?
Booking time off yourself is a manager action. The limits are what staff hit when they submit a request.
What if the notice is zero?
Staff can ask for tomorrow. That is fine for a dental appointment and painful for a week off. Use a number you would be happy to explain.
Do blackout dates replace these limits?
No. Limits shape every request. Blackout dates block particular days on top.
